Black eyes, blue tears (Shania Twain)

November 25th is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. According to the World Health Organization, violence causes more death and disability among women aged 15 to 44 than cancer, malaria and war. In some countries, seeking a divorce is considered a crime that can warrant death.

Shania Twain is a Canadian singer and songwriter in the country and pop music genres. In this song, a woman finds her self-esteem and decides "I'd rather die standing than live on my knees".

Hope you are really conscious of the violence problem!! Enjoy this song!

Oscars 2009

Welcome to the most exciting and glamorous ceremony. Our Penélope won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona!!

But, as we listen to the words, 'And the Oscar goes to...', those who have been nominated are not thinking, 'Please, let it be me'; they're thinking, 'No, please don't let it be me!'. The prize they really want, of course, is the official Oscar gift bag. What's that? It's the consolidation prize the losers get, when the show is over and everyone has gone home. Gossips claim that the value of the gift bags is more than $100,000, but the contents are as secret as the names of the Oscar winners. No one knows exactly what they contain, but rumour has it that the organizers fill them with everything from holidays in luxuty hotels to pearl necklaces, exclusive mobile phones and even gold slippers.

This time, Penélope didn't get the Oscar gift bag, what a pity!!! Have a look in the next video and enjoy watching the 2009 Nominees who got the precious bag. Furthermore, I would like to include Penélope's speech. I am sure you will watch it millions of time in the next few hours, but watch it completely in English!! What about her English accent???

We'll discuss it next time! See you soon!!

Pronunciation: simple past of regular verbs (-ed)

There are three ways to pronounce the final -ed of regular verbs in the simple past tense. This pronunciation is determined by the final sound of the verb in the infinitive: Is it a voiced consonant, an unvoiced consonant, or a vowel sound?

Visit this site on pronunciation to practice more and listen to the pronunciation at the same time!!!

Let's practice on this website, you have to choose the right option! Good luck!
