Unfortunately, our irresponsible behaviour is drastically affecting biodiversity and leading to the disappearance of species with unpredictable consequences for the planet.
Picture in your minds the image of your favourite place in the world and picture all the different organismis that can be found in that place: trees, flowers, animals. Imagine that everything is gone: no more trees, flowers or animals. What is your picture like now? Do you think this can happen? Why?
Have a look at the video and think about the consequences of our behaviour!!!

I think that there is nothing we as individuals can do to prevent climate change. In my opinion, our governments need to work together to lower the world's carbon emissions and try to promote recycling.
According to scientists around the world we are seeing evidence of climate change in seasonal weather patterns for example in England there has been a lot of heavy rain in the past few years, whereas here in Spain we have seen unusual weather patterns such as very strong winds and a lot more snow or blizzards so we must now change our style to prevent further changes.
I think that we can use different ways to help make the planet a better place!, but in fact we are not doing anything.
I usually talk with my family about climate change, whereas we often forget the dangers of it. However, saving electricity, planting trees or recycling can be some actions we could undertake.
In my opinion, it is the responsibility of both government and individuals to work to reduce the effects of climate change. I'm sure that is possible and that it has important advantages for our world and even for the environment.

Climate change is now something that we cannot close our eyes to.
Recently, we have seen the pollution in the atmosphere in the big cities like Madrid or Barcelona. We are producing a huge amount of carbon dioxide emissions, in fact we are contaminating the environment and contributing to global warming.
In a few years, we will have destroyed the ozone layer, causing the extinction of wildlife, trees and flowers.

We are not really aware of the consequences of our acts. We should be more careful with our actions because most of them are dangerous for the environment. Simple measures like switching off the stand by TV button, using a roll-on deodorant instead of spray deodorant, turning off the tap while you are brushing your teeth, reducing the number of photocopies, using light bulbs or disposing of worn-out batteries in the appropriate bin… could be enough to avoid the disappearance of our favorite places in the world. Unfortunately, I think that we will still be mistreating the world in the next few years. Luis Fernando San José Juste
I´m one of those who thinks that we are still on time to prevent a total chaos in a near future.
The word is prevention, how? Of course, educating people about recycling. Parents are the first step of this path making children aware of recycling at home; the second one is school and teachers, obviously.
Anyway, governments have been denying climate change and global warming for a long time. Although nowadays, it´s something that they cannot conceal from us anymore; Countries´ governments all over the world have had a lot of meetings to try to restrict the carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere and pollution in general; it ended in a global agreement called the Kyoto Protocol, that never worked… and that was because USA and some other countries go on acting as a big obstacle to all this, refusing to lower it...So they try and try (or that´s what they tell us), but there isn´t a real agreement that works and makes us free from the irremediable disaster.
Another problem related to all this global mess, that we cannot forget, is deforestation. Our massive use of wood for everything (newspapers, magazines, furniture…) and premeditated or casual fires are the reason why we are ending with the lungs of the Earth, threes.
If you stop for a moment to think, we are killing ourselves slowly without even notice. So, it´s our duty as parents, and teachers of the future, make the new generations aware of all these problems, so that we can stop this barbarity with their help.
I think we are living a fast life( job, children, housework)and we don´t stop to think What we are doing with our planet, and if it is the best world that we want to bequeath to our children and future grandsons and granddaughters.
However, I think education is the main way to achieve a good habits to recycle and to prevent a lot of bad habits in our daily routines. In fact, our parents and our teachers at school have to teach some ways to prevent the Global warming. deforestation and other climate changes.
Finally, if we made a survey, for instance, about How many people recycle at home? we would be scared of the results, because nowadays there are a lot of families that say that they don´t have any time to do this. It´s horrible! but It´s the reality.
Once I have had a look at the video I consider that nowadays we are eliminating species, we are cutting down thousands of trees and we are polluting our environment. It produces our own destruction as humans beings. We are destroying ourselves because we are contributing to the destruction of biodiversity and we need animals and plants to survive. Most of medicines are arriving from plants as we can see on the video. I agree with it.
Pollution places a main role in the environment destructions because the global warming is affecting species which can not adapt to the new climate. They could become extinct due to global warming.
Out of control fires and high air pollution levels contribute to the extinction of plants, animals and other species.
It is said that by the year 2030 there will not be glaciers because of our bad habits deforestation. We will be suffering climate changes like hot summers, terrible storms and floods.
Warmer weather increases health problems such as the arrival of a lot of mosquitoes too.
If we continue having an irresponsible behaviour we will be dead. I can not imagine this world without the sound of rivers, birds,… but it will happen if we do not do something.
I am going to give you some tips to avoid the disappearance of biodiversity so we should:
- Reduce the use of pesticides in the agriculture.
- Use our cars as less as possible. We could use a bicycle like in Amsterdam or use the public transport.
- Stop buying clothes which are made of fur of many species.
- Recycle paper, glass or plastic.
If we do not save biodiversity, neither many animals and plants nor our sons or daughters will be able to live.

Climate is changing quickly but we do not manage to see it because we are too busy looking at another place.
In the last days, we have being witnesses on the news to how pollution is affecting cities like Madrid or Barcelona. The carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere due to lack of rain and thousand of people are suffering the consequences, difficulties to breathe, allergies, asthmas etc... which are growing up alarmingly.
Madrid Town Hall has demanded of the citizens to leave the cars at home, at least, during those days that contamination is so high, but just few people paid attention to the mayor.
Now, the Environment ministers are studying to impose a tax to fine cars which produce a high level of carbon dioxide.
Unfortunately, it is the only way that we will be aware of the conservation of environment, when someone touches our pocket.
Taking care of the environment is our responsibility. The human beings are the only one that are dangerous to the Mother Earth. The climate change is related to our society’s way of life. The Earth provides us food, water, materials to make everything we need. The resources are limited, and the nature needs time to provide us new resources. For example, we can obtain a different kind of fish from the sea, but sometimes it is necessary to stop this activity to give time to the fish population to grow. It’s simple to understand, but men act in a different way, they use up the resources and go to another side of the planet to take more resources. The consumption is the base of our economy; we are always manufacturing and producing a big amount of toxic gas like CO2 and waste. The effects in the atmosphere of the contaminated gas are devastating. Directly there is a loss of the biodiversity and an increase of the natural disasters. The society should demand big changes. We can’t close our eyes .The politicians should include in their programs hard measures to fight against the climate change and must provide a different economic model.

I´m convinced that everybody knows Global warming is a dramatically urgent and serious problem. The main cause of global warming is our behaviour towards nature.
More than 80% of world wide energy demand is fossil fuels coal, oil or gas.
The rich governments say, that the other alternative sources are impossible to find for a short term so, they prefer to do nothing.
I disagree with people who said that we can´t do anything to stop pollution, we don´t need to wait for governments to find a solution, for this problem we can help adopting a more responsible lifestyle.
For example: Recycling our organic waste, using public transport, or protecting and conserving forest worldwide etc.
Personally, I remember, when I spent a great time every weekend going hiking with my family, and my father showed me the plants and animals. Years later I have made the same things with my daughters, if we want to enjoy with nature for long time, we should change our behaviour.
“If we want, we can.”

Firstly I start remembering an image from the past. Some centuries ago, all these mountains around us were full of trees. Those ones belonged to a very delicate environment, because the climate in this zone was dry, although wetter than today.
Since the shipyards needed wood, the tallest trees were cut down. And since the mines needed combustible, the rest of the trees were cut down later too. So, the floor was naked, the plants didn’t keep the water, and the desert arrived.
And now we have this image, with the desert around us, threatening to spread out. We can’t find the animals that used to live here some decades ago. But, if we don’t do anything against the deforestation, we won’t find any kind of animal, or, perhaps, some invading ones who will turn into a pest.
You have asked us if we think our landscape can change. It has been changed by humans, and we have to get it to improve in the future.
I am an optimistic person so I think we are prepared to do a lot of things to help to save the environment. Of course it is less difficult for governments to take positive measures to decline this hugh problem. But do they really take all the measures they can?
I don´t think so. I´m just thinking about the latest measures in our town as taking your own plastic bag to the supermarket or not allowing to smoke near hospitals public zones or schools. They are all measures that should have been taken many years ago. Ana Mª García.
Governments all over the world, teachers at school and everybody as an individual have to take notice and work together for the same purpose: improve our environment so we would help animals and plants in risk of extinction. Besides we would take advantage of a better lifestyle.
According to scientists, global warming is considered to be a major threat to global biodiversity. The main gas responsible is CO2, it’s being released in huge amounts by our modern way of life. Industrial activities, like burning coal, oil and gas. In my opinion governments have a big role to achieve by reducing these.
I think that children are the future of our planet and it’s our obligation to teach good habits to live in harmony and respect with our environment, in fact in most cases children are more aware than adults on this matter.
There are simple actions that we, as individuals, can take to reduce carbon emissions such as: the electricity we use in our homes, the rubbish we throw, our vehicles…
In conclusion, I believe that we should be more aware of our behavior and start changing our life style to protect our earth because if we continue the same way much longer, we will regret it in the near future.

I have in my mind a picture. This is a place where I played when I was a child. There was a mountain with a lot of pines and great diversity of animals (Turtles, foxes, rabbits, eagles, etc).
I liked visiting this mountain with my friends and we reached the top of the hill where we could breathe pure air. It was a wonderful place. I tell “it was…” because once day a terrifying fire ended with them.
After five hours all the life was burned and a devastating scenery with black ashes appeared. People, who had seen the trees growing along more than 100 years, cried.
I think that the most dangerous animal in the world is human beings but he is also able to create new things. We need to be conscious that if we destroy the environment we will destroy ourselves and there won’t be a future for our children.

Nowadays variations and changes in climate are affecting many elements of human society and our environment, such as human health, agriculture, natural ecosystems, etc. In addition, the increase in temperature has several serious consequences. First of all, the change in temperature affects lifestyles and can cause numerous health problems. Owing to the reduction in precipitation, the agriculture is also affected and droughts increase in some areas.
Besides Climate Change, changes in biodiversity is another effect of our action on the planet, for example, deforestation, overpopulation and extinction of many species are important consequences of that.
I would like to share with you an article I've read recently:
"If today is a typical day on planet Earth, we will lose 116 square miles of rainforest, we will lose another 72 square miles of desert, as a result of overpopulation, we will lose 40 to 100 species. Today the human population will increase by 250,000 and today we will add 2,700 tons of chlorofluorcarbons to the atmosphere and 15 million tons of carbon. Tonight the Earth will be a little hotter, its waters more acidic, and the fabric of life more threadbare."
